Application Rules and Essay Topic – Spring 2026 (November 16, 2025 through December 14, 2025 at 12:00 midnight EST)

Overview
The Jessie and Romie Griffin Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit group with a focus of
helping those interested in pursuing education beyond high school.

Eligibility
This scholarship is for individuals from historically underrepresented groups who will be attending any accredited college, university or technical school. This includes African-Americans, American Indians, Hispanic Americans, Pacific Islanders or first-generation students pursuing education/training beyond high school.

Awards
If selected as recipient, the applicant will receive a monetary award
• The successful applicant must be a U.S. citizen and have demonstrated community service initiatives.
• Interested students must submit an application and essay of a minimum of 500 words.
• Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting information. All information is considered confidential.
• Applications must be submitted directly to the foundation website at: https://www.j-rgriffinfoundation.org using the application form, this is online.

Essay
For Spring 2026 the essay scholarship topic is: “Analyze how equal access to healthcare affects public health and society as a whole“.  

Payment of Scholarship
Winners are required to submit proof of acceptance to school. Once this information is received, the Foundation will provide a payment directly to the school.
